English Premier League - 2007/08

Post by Varun on Fri 4 Jan 2008 - 15:39

First topic message reminder :

Here we are in the second half of the English Premier League and Arsenal is leading the table with an advantage of 2 points over Manchester United. Chelsea are in 3rd place whereas Manchester City find themselves in the last Champions League qualification spot. Liverpool are only 5th but they do have a game in hand.

So guys, what are your views for this season and who do you think will be crowned champions?

There's nothing to worry about. We have a 2-point lead plus a game in hand. Let's see what happens tomorrow...

Damn, Chelsea are still keeping the pressure on Manchester United as they saw off Newcastle by two goals to nil this evening.

I wrote:May be he is eyeing to break the record of Dennis Viollet but I personally think this won't be achieved. Viollet scored 46 goals in all competitions for Manchester United in 1959/60 season including 32 goals in 36 league matches.
Manchester United is a record-breaking team with record-breaking legends. I got confused with those heavy statistics and I reckon I made a mistake here. So, let me rectify it...

It was Denis Law who scored 46 goals in season 1963/64 in all competitions and it was Dennis Viollet who scored 32 goals in 36 league matches in season 1959/60. I am sorry for that but...

But who cares because we are once again champions of England after beating Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium moments ago. It was such a typical climax and a typical set up for Manchester United to claim glory. Manchester United and Chelsea (poor Chelski Razz) were level on points before their last matches (with the Red Devils having the advantage of a better goal difference), a free-scoring Cristiano Ronaldo putting the ball in the net after taking a penalty, a usual yellow card for the charismatic Paul Scholes (but we don't care Razz), a record-equalling Ryan Giggs (758 appearances in all competitions just like the great Sir Bobby Charlton) scoring in the last minutes and Chelsea finally drawing their match against Bolton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge.

We are champions of England for the 17th time! cheers
