Body Building

Post by Jeet on Fri 18 Dec 2009 - 12:15

What currently bothers me is the fact that children start body building at a young age.
Is that a good thing??
And some parents encourage their children to do it at young age so that they they can enter the world guiness book records.

Your views people.

Body building is just for the show and nothing else, at least for me. You can use it to impress certain people or earn a living.

However, those doing it on an amateur level run the risk of injuring their own body if not well practised. A well-known adverse effect of body building is delayed onset muscle soreness.

Hmmm... Yeah, I gained 10 kgs after maintaining my slenderness for 19 years which I have to lose now. Sad

I won't blame Varun entirely for my obesity. I admit I developed an intense appetite for food after knowing him, but I kept eating whatever I would get in hand even if he forbid me. Embarassed

hey varun!i don't agree!body building is not for show as you put it..in fact,it helps building one's character, when the builder is determined to push even harder always.
things like "train like an animal","no pain,no gain" really motivate him.
i started body building only to gain weight and i must admit that body building means a perfect lifestyle!
now that i'm no longer "skinny" as some would say, body building has become part of my life, without which i'd feel sick!

and yes..those doing it on an amateur level should indeed be under the supervision of a trainer..

Now, if you're going to persist that bodybuilding is not a demonstration event, then let me invite you to go through this article.

Bodybuilding is indeed a way of gaining weight for skinny people but that should be complemented with the right foods and drinks at the right time. The best way to gain weight is to go through a fitness program though.

That said, I'm not too sure that pain contributes to a perfect lifestyle and I wish to point out that bodybuilding is not recognised as a sport although this remains subjective.

Exactly! Any martial art practice is far better than bodybuilding for self-defence as things like Karate, Kung Fu or Jujutsu teach you skills whereas bodybuilding only makes you look gross and ugly. Yeah, I really mean that word; ugly.

medames et messieu...
i have experienced body building, and martial arts...
you must get that clear...
YOU DO BODY BUILDING, ITS ONLY FOR WEIGHT(MASSES) AND FORMS..
DO YOU BUILD YOUR FACE? NO.. U CANT..
so normally u will become big, large, and thickk.. ur speed considerably lower..
someone will get hurt only if you hit him... only if..
bassically ur nothing if you dont hit that person, even while self defencing..
TENDI MARTIAL ARTS.. you train and get the only muscle you need to protect urself, le reste c zot lezo ki fer... telment to vine solid ek years of training, u can smash thicknesses of wood.. ow think of ur body..
with amazing speed and flexibility, the body builder wont have time to see the kick, and in milliseconds, a kick in the face.. did you build up ur face? NO>... so here it is.. u get like one kick form a master in karate, u die... un master karate ek un master body building.. ( body builder la pa gagne letemp truver, li fini k.o)
Now, when u build ur body, u have more mass, ur heart work harder... because ur normal mass will increase and ur heart have to pump more to provide u... thus wear and tear harder, and u get old faster.. ur body colapse faster and u have to get rid of the muscle around 45 years old of age...
tendi GRAND MASTER IN KARATE has over 70 years old... no one can even touch him... he is still in his top form...
am talking about death due to wrong practice of sport, not natural death...
ur life is diferent, because u have th eonly muscle required to protect you, defend and attack..
KISANA TI KAPAV TOUSS BRUCE LEE.. lol..
un body builder pane ozer...

The video is just an illustration of what Varun and Naz said earlier and I fully agree with the fact that body building is nothing but for the show. That's why it is called body building, that is building the body by adding forms and mass like Naz said. So, better practise a sport or two to develop your muscles the way they should be developed. Wink

However, are there special requirements to start any martial art?

u should have someone to gyide you, a sensei( coach).. because training is in 3 stages
stage 1 - solidifying body
stage 2- learning techniks along come the great muscles needed
stage 3- mixing stage 1 and 2 together..
each stage need a plan.. so u need a coach..
first 1 year u suck.. then u get the feeling, cause ur so flexible and strong.. try and u gonna see how light you are, how fast you are.
greatly important note: control of respiration and expiration, vraimen vraimen important, c sa ki dirige puisance energy..
